State Border Guard - 100
On 18 November 1918, proclaiming independence of the Republic of Latvia, The People's Council also declared the border of the newly created state.
In order to protect it, on 7 November 1919 the Commander-in-Chief of the Latvian Army General Jānis Balodis issued an order to form border guard units and in November 1919 the actual border guarding of Latvia began.
In 2019 the State Border Guard celebrates its 100th anniversary.
