Potter
Rezekne municipality, the biggest one in Latvia, is located 250 km from Riga, in the Eastern part of Latvia named Latgale.
The municipality is proud of talented people who take part in amateur bands and theatre groups and work in different fields of arts and crafts. There are plenty of workshops of artisans who make beautiful pieces of pottery and successfully preserve the ancient handicraft skills. Every piece is handmade and holds its own special charm and color borrowed from the green grass, dark soil and blue lakes.
Each spring since 1980, Potters’ Days has brought together folk art connoisseurs with the pottery making process. Enthusiasts participate in kiln firing during the night and remove the finished masterpieces in the morning. Pottery workshops are popular destinations for tourists who watch the making of and then purchase the finished clay pottery, try their hands at the potter`s wheel and enjoy the impressive transformation of the clay.
